Cloud9 releases Nisqy ahead of rumored roster changes

Cloud9 has confirmed the departure of mid laner Yasin “Nisqy” Dinçer.

Hours before the start of the free agency, Cloud9 has officially released Nisqy from its roster. Nisqy joined Cloud9 ahead of the 2019 season and was part of the roster that saw Cloud9 win its first domestic title since 2014. In 2019, Cloud9 attended the World Championship. The squad was supposed to repeat this feat in 2020 after a dominant spring split, but C9 wasn’t provided an international platform with the cancelation of the Mid-Season Invitational and things went sideways for the team in the summer split.

After a dominant performance in the spring, it looked like Cloud9 would be the team to beat and had its spot at Worlds all butsecured. But in the summer, Cloud9 finished the regular season in second place and fell in round three of playoffs against Team SoloMid. Because of the changes to the Worlds qualification format, the spring victory meant nothing and Cloud9 lost any chance of attending Worlds.

Thanks for everything @Cloud9 @JackEtienne
It’s been 2 amazing years and I’m happy that i was part of this amazing journey.
As for myself,
Scrims are going great, can’t wait for next season. #TeamNisqy ♥ https://t.co/2hEdIGP4Bz

The disappointing end of the 2020 season has forced Cloud9 to make changes. Head coach Bok “Reapered” Han-gyu resigned in September and was replaced by Kim “Reignover” Yeu-jin. Top laner Eric “Licorice” Ritchie was released and now, it’s Nisqy’s turn.

“From my first call with Nisqy, I knew he was someone special.  His positive attitude is contagious and he was the rock of our team for 2 years.  I’m excited for his soon to be announced future but I’m going to miss him. I hope to meet up at many international events in the near future,” Cloud9 CEO Jack Etienne said.

Is Nisqy going to Fnatic and the LEC?

All rumors seem to indicate that Nisqy will return to his home region of Europe in 2021. Rumors are placing Nisqy on the Fnatic roster, where he would be replacing mid laner Tim “Nemesis” Lipovšek. Nemesis is one of the mid laners rumored to be making the trip across the pond to North America. The other big name circling around is Luka “Perkz” Perković, who has been confirmed to be leaving G2 Esports and rumored to replace Nisqy on Cloud9.
