Five Nights at Freddy’s games in order

There are nine total games in the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise. Here are the games in order! And it’s not what you think…

Five Nights at Freddy’s 4

While this isn’t the first FNAF game, it’s the origin story, taking place in 1983. Fans figured this out after seeing a commercial on an in-game TV that is for Fredbear and Friends, which aired in 1983.

You play as a young child living in fear in their own bedroom. The enemies appear to be scary versions of the OG animatronics, Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2

This game takes place when Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza originally opens. Based on the paycheck you get at the end of the fifth night, we can see this game is set in 1987. You work night shifts as a security guard who can put on a Freddy Fazbear head when the animatronics reach your office. This will buy you some time.

Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location

This game takes place at a new location, Circus Baby’s Entertainment and Rental, which also has some creepy animatronics. Per usual, you work the night shift, although you’re a technician this time around.

Fans debate when this game takes place, but it seems to be when Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza initially closed in 1987.

Five Nights at Freddy’s

This is the first game to be created back in 2014. You are a security guard watching over Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza during the night shift. You check out security cameras in an attempt to avoid Chica, Bonnie, Freddy, and Foxy. This game takes place in the early 1990s.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 3

The third installment takes place three decades after the OG restaurant closes. This means it takes place around the 2020s. You’ll now be at a new location, Fazbear’s Fright: The Horror Attraction, inspired by the horrific events that took place at the pizza shop.

Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator

This game blends the usual FNAF jump scares with running your own pizzeria. Check computers and watch the vents to be safe. You’ll also need to salvage animatronics, including Springtrap.

Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted

This is the first VR FNAF game, and there’s a sequel as well. This game includes a lot of mini-games featuring familiar creepy faces. In the opening message, you are told that Fazbear Entertainment has “developed something of a bad reputation over the last few decades,” which indicates that it comes out around the same time as the third FNAF game.

Five Nights at Freddy’s: Special Delivery

This augmented reality game is available for mobile devices, having you use a flashlight and controlled shock to stop the animatronics roaming the room around you. The timeline for this game is a little unknown, but it seems like it takes place around the time of Help Wanted since it mentions the “digital age” and “virtual reality.”

Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach

This is the most recently released game and seems to be the most recent in the timeline as well. It’s a free-roam survival horror game in which you play as a boy trapped in the Freddy Fazbear Mega Pizzaplex.

Five Nights at Freddy’s games in release order

Now that you know how many FNAF games there are, here is the release date of all nine games, in case you prefer to play them in the order in which they came out.
