Cloud9 changes CSGO roster again, drops TenZ and adds Subroza

Cloud9 is still looking to get back on track in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

The organization has announced the benching of Tyson “TenZ” Ngo after just three events as part of the team’s lineup. Replacing him on the active roster is Yassine “Subroza”‘ Taoufik.

“We’ve recently decided to bench TenZ and I know that might be a shock to the community,” Cloud9 coach James “JamezIRL” Macaulay said. “It might be expected by others, but we think it’s the best decision moving forward. There’s a clash in desired playstyle among him and the rest of the team. I think he has great potential to be on a pro team in the future, but I don’t think now is the right time for him to be playing for us.”

TenZ debuted for Cloud9 at BLAST Pro Series Los Angeles and performed fairly well on an individual level, helping the team to a fourth-place finish that included a win over FaZe Clan and draws against MiBR and NRG Esports. However, his individual production fell off from there and Cloud9’s struggles continued.

It is unclear what the sticking point was between TenZ and the rest of the team, but Cloud9 was TenZ’s first experience at the highest level of play and he remains relatively young at just 18 years old.

Cloud9 adds Subroza, previously accused of cheating

Taking TenZ’s spot on C9 is Subroza. He joins on a trial basis for the remaining league play in the ECS Season 8 North America Division and BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen. JamezIRL stated he is a good fit due to his experience and personality.

Subroza is certainly better seasoned than TenZ. During his professional career he has played for a few high-profile organizations, most notably spending a year with Ghost Gaming.

He most recently competed with Lazarus Esports, where he enjoyed a solid run in North American domestic events which included qualifying for the StarLadder Berlin Major Americas Minor and winning WINNERS League Season 2.

While he has had a fairly successful career to this point he is best known for widespread accusations of cheating with aimlocks, particularly surrounding his run with Counter Logic Gaming. Despite that, Subroza has appeared at a number of prominent live events without any further accusations of wrongdoing.

His debut with Cloud9 comes on October 21 with a series against INTZ Esports.
