Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is about to get ranked play, and the community is ready for the grind. Now, eFuse has announced a tournament for those looking to climb the ranks: Ranked Race.
Eight teams of four will be competing for a $25,000 prize pool, all led by champion Warzone players and top Call of Duty pros. The competition will begin on Tuesday, May 9. Here is how to follow the action.
“With Call of Duty ranked taking the competitive scene by storm, everyone is fighting to be the best. But who truly deserves the title? Introducing the Ranked Race,” Kelsie “Kelsaroony” Grieg declared.
The eight teams will play a round-robin tournament that takes place over the course of one day. Each team will play a best-of-one match against each other, creating a total of 36 matches.
The winners of each match will move up the leaderboard in a race to become the best team in Ranked Race. At the end of the tournament, the two teams with the most wins will then face each other in a best-of-five Grand Final.
The $25,000 prize pool includes $22,400 for the round-robin matches and then $2,600 for the Grand Final. The amount of moolah from the prize pool a team gets is determined by how many wins they get.
The leaderboard will be organized by rank, inspired by the names in the game’s ranked play. Here’s how it will be broken down:
The goal of the participating teams is to walk away with $8,200, which would mean they placed first in the round-robin portion of the tournament and took the $2,600 for the Grand Final victory.
The spicy, fast-paced competition will be streamed all day on Call of Duty’s official Twitch channel. Head over there on May 9 to see competitive players grinding their way to the top.
