Casper “cadiaN” Møller and Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander allegedly got into a physical fight at ESL Pro League Season 15.
The information was revealed by prominent esports journalist Richard Lewis during a recent episode of the Pop Flash, a CSGO podcast. Lewis stated that he received inside information from ESL Pro League about the scuffle. It’s not clear which player between Heroic and Astralis’ in-game leaders started the fight, but the fight most likely stemmed from previous disagreements between the two Counter-Strike: Global Offensive players.
“According to my little birds at ESL, that spilled over backstage… as in someone jumped across a sofa and squared up to somebody else and people had to get between them,” Richard Lewis said.
It’s not clear exactly what happened backstage, but it could have severe consequences for those involved. Physical violence is not explicitly covered in the official ESL rulebook, but it could fall under “unsportsmanlike conduct.” The punishment is entirely up to ESL administrators but it’s possible that cadiaN and gla1ve could be temporarily banned from ESL events including the upcoming ESL Impact League in June.
Although fans are shocked to hear of a physical fight at a major, gla1ve and cadiaN actually have a history of beefing with each other on social media.
The two captains first publicly disagreed with each other over cadiaN’s social media posts in late 2020. Heroic’s shot-caller denied accusations that he and his teammates were aware of former coach Nicolai “HUNDEN” Petersen’s use of an infamous camera bug. gla1ve responded that cadiaN’s statements were in poor taste. Ever since that interaction, the two Danish players have held animosity toward each other. Most recently, the two traded harsh comments over each other’s careers.
It’s not known what sparked the fight between cadiaN and gla1ve at ESL Pro League Season 15, but it could be related to the coaching bug. Heroic has constantly come under fire for its former coach’s actions. gla1ve, meanwhile, is arguably the most-decorated IGL in the history of Counter-Strike.
Whatever triggered the fight will probably remain a mystery to fans, with neither veteran coming forward with further information.
