Breaking down leaked agent Newcastle's abilities, release date
A massive Apex Legends leak has revealed Newcastle as the new upcoming defensive legend who will bring a unique shield aspect to the game’s roster.
Respawn Entertainment rolls out a brand new legend to the roster after every three months or so, refreshing the game’s meta. Players are now gearing up for the next character as the current season draws to a close. So far, every season has included a new legend that players can unlock and take into the outlands, and it appears that Respawn has provided a clue as to the next one.
Apex Legends
Season 12
is about to wrap, and players are all set to take the next agent for a spin. According to leaks and clues, Newcastle will join the squad in Season 13 with a defensive kit. Here’s all we know about Newcastle’s tools and abilities.
What are Newcastle’s abilities?
According to the sizeable March 28 leak, Newcastle will enter the squad as a “mobile defender.” Here are all of his abilities.
Passive – Retrieve the Wounded:
Drag downed teammates as they are being revived and protect them with a restoring shield. This healing power will strengthen the team’s ability to stay alive longer and enable teammates to take on risky duels.
Tactical – Mobile Shield:
Throw a controllable drone that creates a moving energy shield. Newcastle likely gets his codename “mobility defender” from this ability.
Ultimate – Castle Wall:
Leap and slam to a target ally or area and create a fortified stronghold. In effect, the legend can build a barricade to protect his teammates.
On paper, Newcastle’s kit seems game-breakingly good. The legend may not see play in lower-ranked lobbies where gameplay is comparatively fast. But professional and competitive players may pick him up generously as Newcastle is a team-first legend that brings value to the table by protecting and shielding his allies from gunfire.
Newcastle’s kit may provide Rampart players with a new viable option for their ranked games. The legend can do everything that Rampart can and more. Lifeline may also see some competition, but her pick rate likely won’t take a hit. The combat medic is pretty valuable when it comes to healing. Whatever the case, it’s safe to say that Season 13 will be different with Newcastle in the mix.
What is Newcastle’s release date?
If Newcastle is the next legend in Apex Legends, he should be released with Season 13 which is set for May 3, 2022. The exact release date for the new legend may vary as Respawn hasn’t officially confirmed it just yet.

Apex Legends player count drops, Steam reviews remain negative
Fariha Bhatti
Apex Legends players are concerned as the game declines both in popularity and player count. Respawn's Season 22 changes to Apex Legends battle pass had left players with a sour taste. Eventually, the developer reverted those changes, allowing them to purchase the battle pass with their hard-earned Apex Coins again, but that's something that has left them with a grudge. Despite the run back, the Apex Legends Steam page is ...
