It is a common misconception that you must spend money to have a good experience in Honkai: Star Rail. It is possible to advance through the game and have a powerful free-to-play team without paying.
Honkai: Star Rail has gacha mechanics, meaning that you cannot simply buy the character you want. Players earn passes that can be used for a Standard Warp, which can turn into a character or Light Cones. Using 10 passes at a time guarantees at least one character in the pull.
Some lucky players might get a five-star pull, but in most cases, players have four-star characters. While it might seem like having a team full of five-star characters is the only way to win, the truth is you can go a long way with the right four-star characters.
Elements in Honkai: Star Rail
Before facing an opponent, it will show its weaknesses. These are the elements that you must keep in mind when putting together a team. There are seven elements in Honkai: Star Rail, Lightning, Physical, Fire, Ice, Wind, Quantum, and Imaginary. Out of these elements, Physical, Ice, Wind, and Lightning are some of the most common weaknesses an enemy will have.
Honkai: Star Rail is not the type of game where one team can conquer all, you need to adapt based on the opponent. Ideally, you will have a good character from each element that you can bring to your team.
Best free to play team in Honkai: Star Rail
A team full of five stars with everything maxed out is possible if you want to invest money in the game. If you are looking to go through it without spending a single cent, then you can follow some of the basic compositions.
Starting with a standard team that has DPS, a tank, a flex pick, and a support. Characters with the ability to heal and shield, like Natasha and March 7th, are fundamental for any team. They help you keep your tank alive while your DPS is slashing through the enemy.
This team could look something like the Fire Trailblazer with March 7th, Natasha, or Bronya. Your damage dealer can be Dan Heng, Seele, or Sushang.
Clara is a character that many are prioritizing, and for a good reason. Clara’s Ultimate reduces the DMG she receives, and it increases the stats on her Talent. Every time Clara receives DMG, it activates her Talent, which makes Svarog retaliate with an attack that equals 80%-200% to Clara’s ATK.
Pulling all of these characters will require luck, but it is not impossible. Make sure to complete as many side quests as possible and get all the passes that are available.
