Overwatch 2’s rocky launch curse continues as the developer disables Bastion and Torbjorn to iron out critical bugs.
To say that Overwatch 2’s release was shaky is an understatement. The game’s highly-anticipated launch was plagued with DDoS attacks, log-in delays, and verification issues for some players. Blizzard had quickly straightened out what it could, but the Overwatch 2 bugs are far from over. The game-breaking Bastion Infinite Ultimate usage has earned him a seat on Overwatch 2’s bench alongside Torbjorn.
The two heroes will remain disabled temporarily until Blizzard works around the glitched kits. Both are disabled in competitive modes, but Torbjorn will still be playable in Quick Play.
Overwatch 2 players have discovered a unique, powerful bug in Bastion’s kit that broke the game meta. The DPS hero typically shoots his ultimate three times. But the bug lets him spam the shots by simultaneously pressing Q and the left click. The latter was likely removed for the “Overload” duration increase glitch, which provides him with over health, faster movement, and a faster fire rate on his rivet gun. Both characters have now been removed from the hero gallery for the severity of the bugs.
Unfortunately, hero bugs aren’t Blizzard’s only woes as of now. The game was once again hit by a DDoS attack, forcing players to disconnect from the server. High ping also came as a package deal, prompting Blizzard to shut down Overwatch 2 temporarily. However, the servers are back up with minimal latency issues, and the two heroes will follow suit soon.
Blizzard said that the workshop would be quick, so players won’t have to wait long before they can run Bastion and Torbjorn without the game-breaking bugs.
Both events have caused unrest among Overwatch 2 fans, dealing with new daily issues. However, the community is still grateful that the bugged heroes are being fixed. But, the recurrent problems have surely dulled the fun and excitement surrounding the remodeled version of Overwatch.
