Has character customization gone too far? Baldur’s Gate 3 players were shocked when they realized they could customize their character’s genitals.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is a pretty mature RPG with plenty of nudity options if you so choose. While nudity can be disabled in the game, you can also see plenty of bare naked characters if you desire. And since there’s the option for nudity, developers decided that characters’ genitals should be customizable to help players express themselves.
Belgian game developer Larian has confirmed that players can pick their genitals from a short list of options. While you can pick from a variety of pubic hair, lead designer Alena Dubrovina noted that you can’t pick the size. The option to choose your genitals arose when the team started wondering what would happen when you took off your underwear.
Dubrovina told Kotaku: “The question arose, ‘What happens when you take it off?’ At first, we were like, You know, maybe nothing’s gonna happen. Maybe we’re gonna have another underwear mesh under it. Who cares? But then I started thinking about it, talking about it, and we realized that for some players, it’s just another way to represent their identity.”
When you start customizing your character in Baldur’s Gate 3, you will see that there are six genital types to choose from. But there is no description, leaving some players wondering if they made the “right” choice when picking out their genitals.
Here are the genital types and what they actually look like:
Now you are ready to bare it all and romance others in Baldur’s Gate 3. The game has been a huge hit so far, thanks to its heavy inspiration from the classic role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons.
