Apex Legends Season 17, known as Arsenal, is upon us. The next update for the game brings a new Weapon Mastery system, and here is everything we know about it.
Season 17 Arsenal is changing things on Apex Legends. The update will see a major overhaul of World’s Edge, the second battle royale map in the game. Some of the changes include raising the levels of lava and adding a Monument, which is a structure that celebrates the developer team behind the game.
Arsenal also marks the debut of Ballistic, the newest character in the game. Ballistic, whose real name is August Montgomery Brinkman, is an assault-class character. Ballistic is a 63-year-old heir to the Brinkman fortune. He joined the Thunderdome Games, the games before the Apex Games. He is described as wild and reckless.
The biggest change in Arsenal is the Weapon Mastery system being implemented.
The new Weapon Mastery system in Apex Legends is the first long-term progression system to be implemented in the game outside of the ranking system.
The goal of the Weapon Mastery system is to incentivize players to use a broader variety of weapons. Apex Legends is hoping players learn more about weapons and characters outside of the main of their choosing.
Once the update goes live, the Weapon Mastery system will be available for all players who will start at level one, regardless of their current rank.
Players can level up their weapons by using them in-game. Every 20 levels, players will receive a weapon trial. At level 100, the maximum level possible, players will receive a Legendary skin for the weapon.
Other possible rewards include weapon-specific badges, a Legendary Weapon Mastery banner, and a lifetime performance tracker.
The system doesn’t reset with the new season, so there is no time limit to get to level 100.
