Apex Legends Season 17’s newest legend has been confirmed, Ballistic. The legend has been hinted at in numerous teasers and leaks, but the latest Stories From the Outlands has made his arrival to the Apex Games official.

“Encore” is the latest Stories From the Outlands from Respawn Entertainment, giving insight into legends’ backstories and lore. This time around, we get a better look at the highly anticipated legend, Ballistic. In “Encore,” it’s revealed that Ballistic was once a very admired legend in the Apex Games before his showboating got him in trouble. He became a rich hermit but has decided to come out of retirement after seeing that his son was planning to join the Apex Games.

In “Encore,” we get a very emotional father and son story. It looked like Ballistic often ignored his young son, who later left along with his mother. When Ballistic saw him on the news, he grew quite emotional, deciding to get ready to join the Apex Games himself in his son’s place.

Ballistic trailer hints at weapon-focused abilities

In “Encore,” many of Ballistic’s abilities are seen getting utilized throughout the emotional and intense tale. Fans have noticed that the abilities line up with the ones that were previously leaked by data miners. Here is what previous leaks have uncovered about Ballistic’s gun-focused kit:

  • Class: Assault
  • Passive: Ballistic is able to hold three weapons, holding an extra in a sling
  • Tactical: Smart Bullet
    • Shoots a projectile that debuffs the enemy. Enemies’ guns will start to heat up as they shoot, and overheating will cause a reaction and deal damage. Holding the Tactical will allow it to lock on
  • Ultimate: Weapon Enhancer
    • When activated, nearby teammates get faster reloads, move speed, and infinite ammo. Ballistic’s sling weapon will also be equipped and upgraded to gold

“After years of exile, disgraced legend Ballistic returns to the area. Will he show the next arena how it’s done or is he past his prime?” Ballistic states in the dramatic trailer offer a unique storyline to higher-ups.

In return for allowing Ballistic to compete in the game for better ratings, Ballistic demanded his son not be allowed to compete in the Apex Games. His son finds out that it was Ballistic’s decision to get him kicked from the Games, which is the end of the emotional trailer. This has left Apex Legends fans begging for the storyline to continue, claiming it’s one of the best videos yet.

Many Apex Legends fans rejoiced at the concept of an older badass legend joining the roster. They also admired him for wanting to protect his son. Another said that it was the first time in a while that it truly felt like a “legend” competing in the games.

Apex Legends players are now more emotional and excited than ever as they await Ballistic’s arrival.
