Remember Until Dawn? The horror game is apparently becoming a movie thanks to superhero filmmaker David Sandberg.
Sandberg has signed a deal to direct Until Dawn, adapted from the video game of the same name by Screen Gems and PlayStation Studios. It screenwriter Gary Dauberman will be doing a pass on the script, which was originally written by Blair Butler.
The last few years have been full of video game adaptations, including the animated Super Mario Bros. movie. Amidst rumors of a Legend of Zelda and Super Smash Bros. movie, Until Dawn has emerged.
Until Dawn is an interactive horror game that was released in 2015. You play as a group of eight friends who are staying at a remote mountain retreat. You make split-second decisions in life-or-death scenarios, creating a lot of tension and jump scares.
Interestingly, the original video game used popular celebrities in the motion capture and were quite recognizable in the game, like Rami Malek and Hayden Panettiere. It’s unclear who would star in the motion picture adaptation.
There is no release date for the Until Dawn movie so far.
We are not sure how far the movie is into its production but it’s definitely early on. There will be more information released about the actors, release date, plot, and more as production ramps up.
