Twitch took a huge blow when the biggest female streamer decided to make the switch to Kick. But what exactly made Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa make the massive change?

Felix “xQc” Lengyel shook up the streaming world when he announced he was moving to Kick in a $100 million non-exclusive deal. And just days later, Amouranth followed suit, although it’s unclear what the details of her deal are at this time.

Amouranth did open up about why she made the change, however. On her personal Twitter, the hot tub pioneer explained her issues with Twitch.

Why did Amouranth switch to Kick?

Amouranth may be known for her seductive photos and sultry appearance, but she is no stranger to intelligent discussions with her followers and is just as popular for her insight and smarts.

This time, Amouranth discussed the issues with Twitch.

“Twitch’s ‘sin’ isn’t trying to squeeze their creators,” she wrote. “Their sin is making a business model that doesn’t succeed except maybe at YouTube scale — but live streaming is a much smaller [total addressable market] than pre-recorded videos.”

Essentially, Amouranth felt that Twitch’s recent decisions have left streamers unable to “achieve profitability” and predicted that it would get even worse.

“Taking an incremental share of streamer earnings is hamfisted, and you can’t cut your way to profitability that way. I echo the view that if all the recent Twitch actions are sacrificial lambs to delay Prime sub removal… Look out below,” Amouranth said.

Others in the streaming community agreed that there would be “no reason” to even stream on Twitch at all if Prime subs were removed. One said that it was the “biggest factor” keeping Twitch around. The majority of fans agreed that it was just a matter of time when Twitch would remove free Prime sub removal anyway.

Right now, it’s unclear what Amouranth’s deal with Kick entails. But what is clear is that Amouranth and many other streamers are fed up with Twitch’s regulations, policies, and changes.
