Complexity loses poizon for 2020 season after emergency surgery

Complexity Gaming’s Valentin “poizon” Vasilev will not finish out 2020 with the team after the organzation announced that he had undergone emergency surgery.

A tweet from Complexity Gaming CEO Jason Lake announced the news on Twitter, making sure to mention that Complexity expects the AWPer to make a full recovery. The tweet kept the exact nature of poizon’s surgery private.

Lake ended the unfortunate announcement with the organization’s intention to have someone fill in for the hospitalized player for the remainder of the 2020 season. For Complexity, that period includes the IEM Global Challenge, where Complexity is one of eight attending teams. It is unknown whether or not the “2020 season” indicated also includes the BLAST Premier Global Finals that is set to take place starting on January 18.

Who will fill in for Complexity?

Complexity’s best-case scenario in case poizon misses a considerable amount of time may be a member of the now ex-Chaos roster. The fivesome had shone in regional competition and showed serious promise, but Chaos parted ways with both their Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Rainbow Six Siege rosters earlier this month. The issue of international travel also plays a factor, as it is unlikely that Complexity will be able to provide a visa and transportation for a North American player into the Europe in time for the upcoming matches.

That leaves few options for a Complexity team that is only months removed from Owen “oBo” Schlattery unceremoniously leaving the squad, stating that he didn’t believe that Complexity ever had any intention of returning to North American competition.

Complexity is set to start off the Intel Global Challenge against Astralis on Tuesday, December 15 against Astralis.
