Rapper Post Malone is making moves in the esports industry.

Envy Gaming has revealed that Post Malone is now a part-owner of the esports organization.

“I grew up in Texas and I’ve been gaming my whole life, so this just really felt right. I have always wanted to be a part of bringing gaming into the professional sports world so to be involved with what Envy is doing in my hometown feels like such a perfect fit,” Post Malone said.

This is not Post Malone’s first investment in the esports industry. It’s not even his first partial ownership of an esports team based in Texas.

Post Malone is also a partial owner of the Overwatch League’s Dallas Fuel and Call of Duty League’s Dallas Empire. Envy also has a facility in Northern Texas, which is where Post Malone grew up.

Envy owner and chief gaming officer Mike Rufail said that the deal with Post Malone has been in the works since last year. The two met at Posty Fest in Arlington last November, where they started talking about a shared passion for video games.

“He’s a genuine gamer who brings a lot of effort and personality into everything he does. I couldn’t be happier to have him invest and build with us,” Rufail stated.

Post Malone is definitely no stranger to the gaming industry. He has his own line of gaming headsets through manufacturer HyperX, who he also streams for. Post Malone also has his own Twitch channel where he plays a variety of video games.

The “Circles” rapper’s partnership with Envy Gaming was announced soon after Chaos Esports Club revealed Pusha-T and Logic as investors and tastemakers. Drake is another big hip hop artist who has gotten involved in esports. The Canadian rapper is part owner of 100 Thieves.
