FaZe Clan officially signs coldzera ahead of ESL One New York

After weeks of speculation, FaZe Clan has announced the official signing of Marcelo "coldzera" David.

The team posted a coy tweet just a few hours ago, simply saying, "We have an announcement to make." This was followed by the Brazilian flag. A hype short was also attached to the official roster addition tweet.

The announcement was well-received by coldzera's fans, as well as FaZe's followers. But it wasn't too much of a surprise.

The rifler was first suspected of having connections to FaZe Clan when the squad's star player Nikola "NiKo" Kovac used the hashtag "FaZe Up" when commenting on one of Coldzera's Instagram posts. Since then, rumors have been flying about coldzera's possible future with FaZe Clan. That was back at the beginning of September.

Around the same time, various esports publications suspected that Filip "NEO" Kubski and Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovacs would be leaving FaZe Clan to make room for the MiBR star. But so far that rumor hadn't been addressed by the organization or the players.

coldzera completes journey from MiBR bench to FaZe

Since July, coldzera has been on MiBR's bench after he announced that he wanted to leave the team. Although FaZe Clan has not made any numbers public, it's been speculated that the organization made one of the highest priced buyouts in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive's history, thanks to Coldzera's impressive resume.

coldzera was nominated as the best CSGO player in the world twice by HLTV, once in 2016 and again in 2017.

He showed his impressive skills throughout his career with MiBR, including a big win at ESL One Cologne in July 2016. When the team started to have disappointing results in more recent tournaments, coldzera announced his desire to leave the team.

In a recent interview, he admitted to the team having "no chemistry" and a lack of motivation. But his entire team supported his decision to leave the team for his own well-being.

"They started feeling the pressure when the results were not coming because they were used to winning every time. We grew complacent and lacked competitiveness, myself included," Coldzera said.

After leaving the team, coldzera had moved to Europe to continue practicing CSGO with top players and coaches. This included attending a Serbian LAN with NiKo and Faze Clan's head coach Janko "YNk" Paunovic.

Now, coldzera will make his debut as part of FaZe Clan's squad tomorrow at ESL One New York. There, the team will be attempting to take on Astralis, Team Liquid, and NRG
