100 Thieves release huhi after disappointing spring split
After an extremely disappointing LCS Spring Split, 100 Thieves has officially released mid laner Choi “huhi” Jae-hyun from its League of Legends roster.
“Through all the challenges this LCS split, Jae’s work ethic, positivity, and professionalist always stood out,” the team said.
100 Thieves went on to wish huhi the best, noting that he’d be a “valuable addition” to any team he joins. As of now, huhi is a free agent. He tweeted that he is open to all opportunities in North America, whether it be at the LCS or academy levels. huhi also stated that he’s open to filling the mid laner or jungler roles on a team.
“The split has not gone the way we thought it would. But I won’t stop working hard,” huhi said.
100 Thieves were fan favorites going into the LCS this season after they announced some big signings leading up to the event. huhi joined from Counter Logic Gaming. Bae “Bang” Jun-sik switched over from SK Telecom T1 and the LCK, looking for a strong debut in North America.
Surprisingly, this was 100T’s worst split since the franchise’s debut, with a final record of 4-14.
huhi personally finished with some of the worst statistics of any mid laner in the LCS when it came to kills, assists, and his overall KDA. With six games remaining in the split, huhi’s LCS run was cut short, and the slumping mid laner was moved to the organization’s academy team. Max “Soligo” Soong took over for the remainder of the spring.
CEO Matt “Nadeshot” Haag has said that “there will be roster changes heading into the Summer Split,” which leads fans to believe that huhi’s removal is likely just the first in a number of changes coming to the team.
