Bottom laner Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen has been a free agent for over a month, and the player revealed the details through Twitter.
Zven might not be coming back to Team SoloMid. The Danish player is back home in Europe to enjoy his off time. According to a post on his Twitter, Zven has been talking to teams in both Europe and North America, including TSM, for the better part of a month.
It makes sense for Zven to leave TSM given the disappointing results he has had since joining the team in 2018. Zven moved to the LCS as one of the best bottom laners in Europe. Unfortunately, he didn’t live up to the expectations and has been constantly criticized for his poor performance. According to different rumors, Zven might be talking to Cloud9.
Zven’s rumored replacement has officially entered the free agency, FC Schalke 04 Esports’ bottom laner Elias “Upset” Lipp. Upset is one of the rising stars of the LEC and he announced he won’t be resigning with Schalke.
“LA weather is so nice,” wrote Upset on Twitter.
While that should not be taken as a confirmation that he is joining TSM or the LCS, it adds to the rumors of his next move. The rumors indicate that multiple teams in the LCS are looking to get Upset, starting with TSM.
Keeping Upset and top laner Sergen “Broken Blade” Çelik would limit TSM’s options when it comes to junglers. The team would have to pick a North American jungler, a decision that hurt them in 2018 and 2019. There are interesting names in the market now so it might be better for TSM to invest one of its import slots into a jungler. TSM is also searching for a new head coach, as the team recently parted ways with Tony “Zikz” Gray, who quickly transferred to 100 Thieves.
TSM is arguably one of the most popular brands in League of Legends worldwide. The team has a broad fanbase that chants the team’s name even when TSM is not at the tournament. In recent years, the team has struggled to find its identity and has gone through four junglers in fewer than two years.
In 2020, TSM will look to build a stronger roster that can win the titles. The free agency window officially opens on November 18.
