Yokozuna and Cactus Jack among leaks in first WWE 2K22 DLC pack
WWE 2K22 hasn’t officially released yet, but that hasn’t stopped the first batch of DLC wrestlers from leaking.
2K Games is pushing players to pick up the special versions of the rebooted wrestling franchise. Though there are a variety of perks available in exchange for picking them up, the DLC season pass is the main attraction for both the
Deluxe Edition and nWo 4-Life versions of WWE 2K22. There’s always intrigue surrounding which wrestlers will wind up making a surprise appearance, but there isn’t much mystery to the first DLC group for WWE 2K22.
Some of the digital distributors for the game have already updated the season pass with posters promoting the first batch of characters. So who is included?
WWE 2K22’s first batch of DLC includes Rob Van Dam, Cactus Jack, and Mr. T
The list of wrestlers included in WWE 2K22’s first batch of DLC is:
- Rob Van Dam
- Yokozuna
- Cactus Jack
- Stacy Keibler
- Mr. T
- LA Knight
While WWE games are often full of throwback names, Mick Foley was conspicuously absent from the games. Mankind, Cactus Jack, Dude Love, and sometimes all three have appeared in past WWE titles, which made his absence from this year’s game perplexing. Though there were suspicions this was because of his
public criticisms of WWE
in the last year, it turns out he isn’t completely blackballed just yet as Cactus Jack will be one of the first DLC characters in WWE 2K22.
Rob Van Dam likely needs little introduction to fans of any era of professional wrestling. He rose to prominence in the 1990s with ECW before being absorbed into WWE as part of “The Invasion.” He famously won the WWE Championship at ECW One Night Stand by defeating John Cena but left the WWE a year later. In the years since, he has bounced back around between WWE, Impact Wrestling, and the independent circuit.
Yokozuna was a key figure for the WWF in the 1990s, famously feuding with Lex Luger and Bret Hart. Despite that, he hasn’t appeared in a WWE game since WWE 2K14.
Stacy Keibler is largely in the same boat. Despite being a prominently featured performer in WWE for several years in the early 2000s, Keibler has been largely scrubbed from the video games. Her last appearance in a WWE console release came over 16 years ago in WWE SmackDown! vs. Raw 2006.
Mr. T is one of the more surprising names. Though he’s best known for his acting in Rocky 3 and The A-Team, he famously wrestled in the main event of WrestleMania 1 and returned for WrestleMania 2. He has been collaborating with WWE of late and has been included in various releases of WWE merchandise, so this isn’t as big a surprise as it might seem to some.
Finally, LA Knight is the sole active WWE performer appearing in this pack of downloadable characters. Formerly known as Eli Drake, LA Knight is well-known for his time in Impact Wrestling and is currently working on NXT 2.0.
Though the DLC pack will be part of the season pass, it will receive a standalone release as well. An exact price point hasn’t yet been announced.
