The first Nintendo version of Pokémon was released in 1996 in Japan. Franchise founder and president of Game Freak, Satoshi Tajiri based the Pokémon franchise on virtual creatures controlled by human trainers.

When the series debuted in 1996, it did not take long for video game enthusiasts to get in on the excitement. Since its 1996 debut, Pokémon has been featured in comics, theme parks, musicals, short films, television specials, and big-screen movies.

Pokémon debuted on television in the special “Mewtwo Returns” in 2000. About a year later, another television special called “The Legend of Thunder” was released. The last Pokémon special to air on national television was “The Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon” in 2006.

Why gamers were drawn to Pokémon

If you ask any video game enthusiasts why they began playing Pokémon, the response will be the same across the board.

Thousands of people across the globe were tuned into Pokémon in hopes of finding unique Pokémon characters. Initially, witnesses did not know what to think about the players, walking around aimlessly with their noses stuck in a Nintendo Game Boy.

Before long, the Pokémon craze was hitting the headlines of media outlets worldwide. There was no doubt, Pokémon would be around for years to come. Sure enough, the video game is still holding its ground in the United States and beyond.

Pokemon is oftentimes compared to casino games because they draw players from all over the world who are excited by which random creature they will encounter next.

Why Is Pokémon still popular?

Unlike most video games, Pokémon paved the way for players to become part of the virtual world. To fight with a Pokémon character, players must catch them first. Contrary to belief, this is no easy feat, as it requires accuracy and perfect timing to nab Pokémon characters with the help of Poke’ Balls.

If you think capturing Pokémon characters is easy, you have never put your Poke’ Ball skills to the test. It requires accuracy to nab a Pokémon before it has time to escape. It is not just about hitting a button it is more about spinning Poke’ Balls in either a counter-clockwise or clockwise direction. To hit your target, you have to put the perfect counter-clockwise or clockwise spin on the Poke’ Ball. Even so, this is not always enough to score a Pokémon.

Players get to visit the Pokémon virtual world. In fact, they can visually see their virtual characters on the map by utilizing the top-down view. Learn more about slots and blackjack at LVBET.

Play Pokemon with friends

Video games have evolved significantly, thanks to new state-of-the-art technologies. Pokémon was a phenomenal video game, as it allowed players to join their friends in searching for Pokémon in a virtual world. Players could play with 1, 2, or dozen or more friends or family members simultaneously.

In addition to playing with multiple friends simultaneously, you can trade your captured Pokémon for another Pokémon. For example, you have two Snorlax Pokémon, one of which you would be willing to trade for a Pikachu Pokémon. If you can find another player who is in need of a Snorlax Pokémon, you can make the trade.

This is a great way to build your Pokémon collection in no time flat. However, there will be some Pokémon that are much more difficult to locate on the map. In other words, some Pokémon sightings are a rarity to keep things interesting for long-time players.

Complex and versatile gameplay

Another reason why Pokémon is still a popular video game is its complexity in training. Players are not only required to search, locate, and capture their Pokémon. They have to master the skill of Pokémon training.

This is where things get a bit tricky. To excel in the game, players must master the skill of Pokémon training. Your training skills are put to the test every time your Pokémon enters a matchup or battle with other Pokémon.

Long-time players have mastered their Pokémon training skills, which will be obvious when your Pokémon is overtaken in battle. Players develop an attachment with their Pokémon. At least, serious players develop an attachment with their Pokémon.

If you want to be considered a masterful Pokémon trainer, you must be dedicated right from the get-go.
