One Piece is one of the longest-running anime, with 20 seasons and over 1,000 episodes. The anime premiered in 1999, and since then, the One Piece universe has expanded to include games and movies. Getting into One Piece can be overwhelming with all the characters and storylines. One of the most iconic characters in the show is Nami, the official navigator of the Straw Hat Pirates.

Nami is an orphan from the Oykot Kingdom. As an infant, Nami was adopted by Bell-mere, a female marine. Since she was a kid, Nami liked drawing maps, and it became her dream to draw a map of the entire world.

Nami’s life would change when the Arlong Pirates came to her town and kidnapped her, forcing her to be a cartographer for the crew. Arlong offered Nami a deal, if she gave him 100 million Bellys, he would free the village. It became her mission to get the money to free her village from Arlong.

Years later, Nami joined the Straw Hats to rob them, her usual modus operandi. Eventually, Nami would become a real member of the crew and one of the senior officers in the Straw Hat Grand Fleet.

Nami is a beautiful young woman, smart and cunning, with a love for money. Her skills include navigation, cartography, and theft. Nami has a bounty of 366 million Bellys.

Is Nami Special to Luffy?

Nami and Luffy had a rocky relationship, considering Nami’s hate for pirates. As the anime progressed, they became exceptionally close. They are constantly bickering. Nami trusts Luffy, and Luffy is arguably who trusts Nami the most in the crew.

Nami and Luffy are close, but it is not a romantic relationship. Luffy is protective of Nami and empathizes with her, understanding all the trauma she has gone through because of Arlong and his crew.
