There’s a new Sonic the Hedgehog 3D platformer but not everyone can play it.
Sonic Dream Team was announced on November 1. Fans were excited when they saw some gameplay, showing Sonic characteristically racing throughout colorful maps and fighting big bad guys. You can play as a handful of popular Sonic characters:
Sonic
Knuckles
Amy
Tails
Rouge
Cream
Battle Dr. Eggman for “control of an ancient artifact.” Well, only if you have a certain console.
Sonic Dream Team is coming this winter — but only for the Apple Arcade. This means it’s available in the App Store, where the description reads: “Packed with non-stop action and thrilling adventures.”
Basically, you’ll need an Apple phone or iPad to play Sonic Dream Team.
This may change later, however. According to NintendoLife, SEGA may be planning to release Sonic Dream Team to PC and other consoles in the future. This is because SEGA has an exclusivity agreement that demands they release mobile games with Apple Arcade first.
Sonic fans are excited about the new game, curious about the characters and commending the art style. Fan art is already in full swing.
