Ahead of Season 11, League of Legends completely changed its item system, introducing a new tier, the mythical items. These are powerful items and players can only pick one per game. The new item system created opportunities for creative build paths, like the strategy known as “MoonStaff.”

MoonStaff consists of two items, Moonstone Renewer and the Staff of Flowing Water. Moonstone Renewer is a mythic item that, according to the game, is designed for Supports.

The second element of this strategy is the Staff of Flowing Water, a legendary item.

These two items have a unique synergy that only gets better as the game advances. The player carrying items will not get the healing from Moonstone Renewer, but it will receive the bonus from the Staff. Simply put, the champion going for MoonStaff acts as a booster for their teammates. To make it even better, it only costs 4800 Gold to get both complete items.

Who can build MoonStaff?

Despite being items for supports, any AP champion can make use of the MoonStaff combination. In pro play, Lillia is one of the champions who is commonly carrying these items. Mid laners and junglers shouldn’t be afraid of going for this build path, they will still put out enough damage to stay relevant while helping their teammates.

The MoonStaff strategy is not limited to the Summoner’s Rift. Players can use it when playing ARAM. Because the healing is limited in this game mode, it’s always good to have extra buffs through items. In ARAM, players tend to be grouped up, so the stats will be even stronger.

In Patch 11.3, Staff of Flowing Water’s ability power went down from 60 to 50. This change is not significant enough to take the strategy out of the meta.

Is LoL Season 10 over?

League of Legends Season 10 finished on November 10, 2020. The new season, Season 11, began on January 8, 2021.

How long does a League of Legends season last?

The League of Legends season lasts 10 months, starting in mid-January and ending in November. During the offseason, players can still play ranked games, any rank achieved in the offseason won’t count towards ranked rewards and ranks will be reset with the new season.

Is League of Legends free?

League of Legends is a free-to-play game. Players can unlock new champions and earn rewards through in-game events and by achieving certain milestones such as reaching a new level on their account. New champions and skins can also be purchased with real-world money after it is exchanged for Riot Points.
