Nintendo revealed a new DLC for Splatoon 3. Wave 1 of the Splatoon 3 Expansion Pass is available now for pre-order, and here is everything you can get.

Splatoon 3 is the third and final installment in the Splatoon series. The game was released on September 2022 and announced a new DLC on February 2023 during Nintendo Direct. The Splaton 3 Expansion Pass, also known as Inkopolis/Side Order, will release in two waves. Wave 1 is not available for pre-order in the Nintendo eStore and is scheduled to drop on February 28.

What’s included in Splatoon 3 Expansion Pass Wave 1?

The Expansion Pass is available for pre-order now and includes a variety of bonuses. The bonuses include:

Players get immediate access to the bonuses when they pre-order the Expansion Pass. These bonuses are available for players who decide to purchase the pass after the release date on February 28.

The Splatoon 3 Expansion Pass is divided into two waves. Wave 1, Inkopolis, takes players on a nostalgic journey to the beginning of the series. Inkopolis is the city featured in the first Splatoon game.

Players will get the opportunity to access Inkopolis Plaza through the subway station at Splatsville. In this new hub, players will find the original shops from Splatoon. The stores include Ammo Knights, Cooler Heads, Jelly Fresh, and Shrimp Kicks.

Characters from the original Inkopolis can be found around the area. Players can visit Spyke and enjoy a performance by the Squid Sisters, who are signing a new version of the City of Color at the Splatfest.

The Great Zapfish can be found on top of the Inkopolis Tower, and amiibo box still works. Inkopolis now includes certain features from Splatoon 3, like a building that looks like the Grizzco Industries storefront and the Tableturf Battle Dojo, which is hidden behind some buildings.

Octo Valley is not part of the Expansion Pack, and the path leading to it is blocked.

Splatoon 3 Expansion Pass release date

Wave 1 will be released on February 28.

According to the Nintendo eShop listing, Wave 2 is scheduled for release on December 31, 2024. Fans have speculated that it is a placeholder date and that it is coming sooner than that.

Wave 2, named Side Order, is a single-player campaign mode featuring a mysterious Octoling on a version of Inkopolis that seems to be taken over by bleached coral. Based on the design of this Octoling, fans speculate that Side Order could be the return of Agent 8.

The story isn’t clear yet. The trailer features what seems to be a group of clones in the making and a character, possibly Agent 8, struggling in a military-like facility.

Will there be Splatoon 4?

Splatoon 3 is the third and final episode of the Splatoon story. The developers have been clear that this game will conclude the story. However, due to the popularity of the game, more installments could be released in the future, featuring different characters and exploring different stories.
