Valorant bug prevents players from picking certain agents
Valorant bug prevents players from picking certain agents
Valorant Patch 1.09 introduced some features that are not working as intended.
Riot Games added a new feature to their FPS that allows players to pin their chat window across menus. Players immediately took to Reddit to point out that this change made it so players with certain resolutions can’t choose Breach, the agent furthest to the left, since he’s blocked by the chat window. Players with 5:4 or 4:3 aspect ratios can be blocked from selecting Brimstone and Cypher as well.

Breach was buffed in Patch 1.07, making him more viable at all levels of play. This has made the bug even more frustrating. While some players have found that they can set the resolution to native before queue and then change it during the first round’s buy phase, it’s still a number of steps that shouldn’t be necessary. Others have suggested selecting an agent, pressing enter, then using the arrow keys to select Breach or Brimstone while they await a hotfix from Riot.
With Riot so focused on
Episode 1, Act 3, developers have not addressed the problem thus far.
This seems to be a common pattern for the Valorant community. Just a few days ago, Tyler “Ninja” Blevins ranted that his
new game of choice
was “unplayable.” In a tweet, Ninja explained that a lot of bugs needed fixing, including Cypher’s ultimate being too loud and Sova’s ultimate having a glitch where he won’t say his voice line.
Valorant currently unplayable. nothing but DC’s in Ranked and Customs, not to mention cheaters in high elo matches constantly. Sova silent ULT glitch, Cypher ult breaks ur ear drums. Really hoping for some hot fixes ASAP

Other big-name streamers chimed in. While Christian “IWillDominate” Rivera noted that all of Riot’s games have frustrating bugs, while deaf streamer Soleil “Ewok” Wheeler joked that Cypher’s loud ultimate is the reason she can no longer play Valorant.
Soon after Ninja’s complaint, Valorant tweeted an update on its official account saying a hotfix was incoming to fix some of these issues.
1.5 hours from now (@ 9pm PT), we’re shipping a patch for APAC + EU/CIS/TR regions to fix a bug with games occasionally freezing and (hopefully) a bug where Phoenix and Sova’s ultimate VO lines don’t play.
If we’re stable: Americas gets this patch at 11pm PT. Thanks everyone.

The good news is that developers have been very responsive to the community’s concerns thus far, meaning a hotfix may be on the way for the chat window bug soon.
