Tyler1 Championship Series is back with a $50,000 prize

The third annual Tyler1 Championship Series is coming soon.

Popular streamer Tyler “Tyler1” Steinkamp often makes headlines for his wild behavior and antics. But now the controversial League of Legends personality is garnering attention for his upcoming Championship Series. It’s bigger than ever this year, with a $50,000 prize up for grabs for first place.

The tournament begins on December 14 at 8 am PST. This will be when the left side of the tournament bracket partakes in the action. The second half will commence on December 15 at 8 am PST. These matches will use a best-of-three format. The finals, held on December 21, will have finalists facing off in a best-of-five.

According to Tyler1’s Twitter announcement, this will be “NA’s last chance for an international title.”

The registration deadline is December 8.

According to the official application page, players currently under LCS contracts are not allowed to compete in the TCS. This ensures that amateur and semi-pro players on the rise will be given the spotlight. The teams will be chosen based on the average LP of their starting five players. Players can also only register with one team.

While Tyler1 has become famous off of his unsavory in-game antics, the rules of his own tournament state that “trolling will be punished, either by disqualifying the team or the player misbehaving for the remainder of the tournament.” Trash talking, on the other hand, is okay so long as it’s kept within the rules, which can be found on his Discord.

Last year, eight teams competed for the $50,000 prize. North American team Polar Ace were crowned the champions.

The first two days of action will be streamed on Tyler1’s Twitch channel, and will feature content creators as the casters. The finals can also be caught on the same channel and will be casted by Tyler1 himself.
