Team Liquid is no longer undefeated.

The defending champions went down to Team SoloMid after having amassed a perfect 7-0 record. TSM broke that record and finished week four with two victories.

TSM showed a dominant performance against a Team Liquid that found itself without answers.

Matthew “Akaadian” Higginbotham left his passive jungling style behind, pressuring Jake “Xmithie” Puchero out of his own jungle.

In the top lane, Sergen “Broken Blade” Çelik had his best performance of the season thus far. Broken Blade’s Jax, with help from Akaadian, neutralized Jung “Impact” Eon-yeong and effectively took his Yorick pick out of the game.

Not everything went in TSM’s favor. In the bottom lane, Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen was unable to keep up with Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng. The rest of the TSM squad left the bottom duo to fend for themselves while they found advantages elsewhere.

Broken Blade continued to grow throughout the match and Doublelift became, once again, the win condition for Team Liquid. Without a clear front line, Doublelift’s Sivir couldn’t enter fights effectively. The team’s low range and the stymied Yorick pick from up top made it hard for Liquid to create an advantageous engagement.

Out of options, Team Liquid tried to make a move for the baron. TSM was ready to contest in the river, but in the meantime, Broken Blade marched into the enemy base. The top laner split push carried TSM directly to a major upset victory.

Once the most successful League of Legends team in North America, TSM currently stands in fourth place, tied with Counter Logic Gaming and Echo Fox.
