TimTheTatman continues Fortnite controller debate with a big insult

Cross-platform play in Fortnite hasn’t united the gaming community like Epic thought it would. Instead, it started an ongoing debate with seemingly no end over keyboard and mouse versus controller players.

The competitive community has been consistently divided on this topic, with many keyboard and mouse players claiming that they’re not only superior in their mechanics, but that Epic’s attempt to make controller players feel equal has backfired.

Keyboard and mouse players are able to more specifically control their aim and do so with a greater range of motion, allowing them to react faster to incoming attacks and also be more accurate. This can also help with faster building. Still, some streamers, pros, and casual players prefer controllers, whether it be for their feel, button placement, or just because it’s just what they are accustomed to.

Epic provided controller users with aim assist in an attempt to get them on the same playing field as keyboard and mouse opponents, and that’s where much of the controversy begins.

PC players have collectively stated that the aim assist needs to be nerfed and is basically a “hack,” as Fortnite World Cup champion Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf pointed out. It was something he ranted about after getting eliminated by a controller player, which seems to almost always be the case when well known Fortnite players decide to rant about aim assist.

Streamer Timothy John “TimTheTatman” Betar recently decided to take a jab at controller players without that provocation..

In a recent stream, TimTheTatman was letting his young son Brewer play around with his keyboard during a Just Chatting session. What was at first a seemingly wholesome moment turned when his viewers saw him starting to laugh.

“You know what’s kind of crazy, bro? I could put a controller in his hand and he could probably get a kill,” he said.

Fortnite community debates keyboard and mouse versus controller

As viewers began to debate the topic of controller players and aim assist, TimTheTatman added that he was only joking. But it was too late. The Fortnite community was already arguing over the age-old topic once more, even bringing up popular controller pro Nick “Nickmercs” Kolcheff.

Nickmercs recently got in a heated argument with Mixer star Tyler “Ninja” Blevins after the latter called controller players “trash.” Ninja had called aim assist “broken,” even after Epic’s nerf, claiming console players were easily able to place in the top 100 in tournaments due to how OP aim assist is.

“Ninja, if it was OP all those motherfuckers would be playing it, and you know it,” Nickmercs had responded at the time.

Ninja responded that keyboard and mouse players are constantly switching to controller, something that “disgusted” him. This includes Twitch personality “Dr Disrespect” Beahm, who recently revealed he was switching to controller while playing Fortnite due to aim assist.

While the argument was definitely intense, the two Fortnite players did agree on one thing: Controller players should have their own professional tournaments, ensuring the playing field is even for both types of players in professional settings. This is something Epic has never discussed or commented on themselves.
