Esports has become a very popular industry as millions of people, especially the younger generations, are more than willing to step into this world and showcase their skills. Watching young pros show off their mechanical skills in Dota 2, League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and Fortnite has become a great form of entertainment.

It goes without saying that this industry is very influential, changing the lives of many people in a short period. Speaking on that topic, we decided to explain how esports managed to revolutionize several industries and bring a positive change to the world. Let’s begin.

Gaming can be very rewarding

Many are surprised to learn that eports tournaments have prize pools of several million dollars, especially when it comes to more popular games like League of Legends and Dota. Take the Dota world championship – The International. The 2019 edition was The International 9, with a prize pool of $34.3 million.

These tournaments give people that are in love with gaming to turn their passion into a profession and make a lot of money with it. Not only that but in the past couple of years, the trend of streaming has become popular. Gamers are recording themselves while they play on various streaming platforms, earning them a steady income with the right audience and sponsors.

Influence over the online gambling industry

Esports games have had a massive influence on many industries, but one of the industries that were influenced the most was the online gambling industry. Numerous online bookmakers now offer players the chance to bet on esports and betting on this category is quite popular.

Not only that, but the online casino sphere also decided to follow the trend. Game providers started supplying these sites with numerous e-sports themed games. Research has shown that many gaming fans are fond of online casinos. After all, online casinos are packed with hundreds of quality games which can provide you with a lot of entertainment.

Streaming

Not only can gamers make money by participating in tournaments, but they can also do it in the comfort of their home by streaming themselves to fans from all around the world. This is yet another industry that was massively influenced by esports games. Streaming platforms such as Twitch, YouTube, and Smashcast were revolutionized and were labelled as a great addition to the ways that people can earn a profit by gaming.

In 2020, Twitch saw its largest viewership of all time as more gamers decided to stream than ever before. While most people recognize names like Tyler “Ninja” Blevins and Imane “Pokimane” Anys, smaller streamers are also able to make a steady income on this platform.

Benefits of gaming

Playing popular esports titles have several benefits, some of which may surprise people new to the esports scene. Some of these benefits are improved eye-hand coordination, better focus, better problem-solving skills, increased eye sharpness, improved memory, and more.

Not only that, but some games can also be very educating as they are based on true events. This may be a bit off-topic to esports games but is still worth a mention. As esports games require you to be in teams (most of the time), one of the benefits that come with this is increased social skills and learning how to play a role in teamwork.
