The plot of Mutant Mayhem isn’t too different from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies before it. The sheltered turtle brothers try to be accepted as normal teenagers in New York City as they simultaneously take on a mysterious crime syndicate in control of a dangerous mutant army.
The film looks to be a blend of heartwarming coming-of-age themes, Gen Z pop culture humor, and comic book-style animated action.

What has set Mutant Mayhem apart is the focus on the turtle brother’s distinct personalities and designs. Leonardo has the most classic appearance and a more traditional outfit, including his headband. His old-school shell is also a big hit with long-time fans of the franchise.
Raphael has a pirate-style headband that’s inspired by newer TMNT designs and a missing tooth. Fans are guessing that he’s a bit more rough-and-tumble than his brothers, especially when you also look at the scratches on his shell.
Donatello has glasses, which is a hit or miss with fans. He also has a fanny pack, which adds to his dorky demeanor. Donatello also has headphones around his neck and carries the phone for the group.
Michelangelo has a wider face and braces. He is the youngest turtle, seeming a bit smaller than his brothers. Michelangelo is the shortest and skinniest. Many are speculating if the Mutant Mayhem will be the first in a series, allowing fans to grow up a bit more in each movie.
The turtles will be joined by April O’Neil, who is often depicted as the first human ally of the sewer dwellers. She will fight alongside the brothers as they take on the crime syndicate and its mutant army.

Fans believe that there are still more characters to come, with some being kept a secret until it gets closer to the movie’s release date. People are expecting to see alien villain Krang as well as Shredder, the most infamous TMNT baddie of all time. Some believe that Shredder will appear during the end credit scene to hype up the next film.

The film was first announced back in 2020, but trailers didn’t start popping up until 2023. This is also when most of the voice actors were announced, including the teenagers behind the four main turtles.
