Tears of the Kingdom will be more than just Breath of the Wild 2, with a massively expanded scope and an entirely new adventure.

The highly anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for Nintendo Switch is almost here in Tears of the Kingdom. Fans have been eagerly awaiting the game for years, and now that Nintendo is offering sneak peeks, there is plenty of hype and excitement. But what can we expect from the game?

Tears of the Kingdom will be the newest Zelda

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the upcoming sequel to the highly acclaimed Breath of the Wild, released in 2017 for the Switch. Originally revealed in September of 2022, developer Nintendo has been highly secretive about the game. However, that changed with a second trailer dropping in February of this year. The game appears to take place in the same Hyrule from Breathe of the Wild with the same versions of Zelda and Link. But according to tradition, the pair must find a way to save their kingdom from an emerging threat.

The game is set in an open-world environment and allows players to explore and interact with nearly everything they see. New to Tears of the Kingdom are various forms of air travel. Link is seen traveling to sky-bound cities on vehicles as well as popping up through the underside of floating islands. Players can explore dungeons, complete puzzles, and battle enemies in their quest to defeat evil. The highly-anticipated sequel will also feature new characters and NPCs to help Link on his journey.

What to expect from Breath of the Wild 2

Players can expect a lot from the game, with a variety of different features and content. Tears of the Kingdom brings a new level of depth and complexity to the game with the addition of air travel. This opens up a third dimension to the open world, which will likely surpass the first game for size.

Tears of the Kingdom features an engaging story that follows Link as he embarks on his journey to save the kingdom. Players will also be able to experience a variety of different characters and NPCs, who will help Link in his quest. The game also features an improved character development system, allowing players to customize their character more to fit their playstyle.

As early trailers have shown, Tears of the Kingdom features improved graphics with more detailed environments and character models. It appears that Nintendo paid special attention to the lighting engine, which makes both surface and floating worlds look great.

Gameplay details are still under wraps, but the first game’s Sheikah Slate will likely get a spiritual successor. The game will also surely feature the hallmarks of The Legend of Zelda, with a variety of puzzles, dungeons, and boss fights to conquer. None of the trailer footage showed off combat, and it remains to be seen if the controversial destructible weapon system of the first game will return. Regardless, we have spotted several new enemy types including some flying foes.

Lastly, Nintendo will likely follow Breath of the Wild’s pattern for post-release content. It will likely get two DLCs offering new weapons, stories, dungeons, and bosses.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom release date

The release date for Tears of the Kingdom is currently set for May 12, 2023. The game will be released exclusively on the Nintendo Switch. Players will be able to purchase the game through Nintendo eShop or purchase a physical copy from a variety of retailers. Based on recent Switch release pricing, the game will likely be sold for $60 USD.

Tears of the Kingdom is an exciting game that promises to bring a new level of depth and complexity to the Breath of the Wild series. The trailers already show off improved graphics, music, and gameplay, as well as a variety of new features. With the game’s release date fast approaching, fans are sure to be excited about what Breath of the Wild 2 has to offer.
