Teamfight Tactics patch 9.16 redesigns Demons, adds Hextech
Teamfight Tactics is getting its first update as a permanent game mode in League of Legends.
Earlier this month, Riot Games announced it is retiring the Twisted Treeline map and will keep Teamfight Tactics available for the foreseeable future. The developers said they would be updating the game on a regular basis and Patch 9.16 shows that they are living up to that promise.
The beta pass returns in Patch 9.16
The beta pass
is making a comeback in Patch 9.16. The beta pass 2.0 includes six icons, three map chromas, and four emotes. The pass will run from patch 9.16 to 9.20.
Players can earn up to 9,280 XP points through the beta pass. 6,800 XP points are required to claim every reward. There are six weekly missions with three levels of difficulty. Three missions are available at a time, with a new one taking the spot of a completed mission.
Orb of Enlightenment is also getting reworked in Patch 9.16. Previously, it granted 80 XP points every 24 hours. The new version will grant 70 XP just for logging in and 10 XP for each game played in the day up to five games for a total of 120 XP daily.
Origins traits and system changes in Patch 9.16
Patch 9.16 introduces four new champions
from Hextech origins.
Two groups of champions are getting nerfed, Brawler and Sorcerer.
- Brawler: Bonus Health: 300/700/1200 ⇒ 300/600/1000
Brawlers are still strong despite the nerf and it’s possible to reach the third breakpoint with Vi as the sixth Brawler.
- Sorcerer: Bonus Ability Power: 45%/100% ⇒ 40%/100%
Lulu is the only Sorcerer to get a nerf in Patch 9.16. Veigar is still a viable pick that can be combined with a variety of champions. The nerf will not affect the presence of Sorcerers in the meta.
Noble, Ninja, and Wild received buffs in Patch 9.16.
- Noble: Bonus Armor and Magic Resist: 60 ⇒ 70
- Wilds: Attack Speed: 10% per stack ⇒ 12% per stack
Nobles and Wilds remain solid in the early game, but are still a transitional option.
- Ninja: Bonus Attack Damage and Ability Power: 40/60 ⇒ 50/70
After the drastic
changes in Patch 9.15, the developers are reimagining Demons in Patch 9.16.
- Demon: basic attacks have a 40% chance to burn 20 mana from their target and return 15/30/45 mana to the attacker.
The change benefits units that can use their ult multiple times in one battle like Varus and Aatrox, as well as units that require mana to transform like Elise.
Significant changes to the matchmaking system of TFT were also implemented in 9.16. The update drastically decreases the probability of playing against the same player or ghost army two or more consecutive times.
Finally, Patch 9.16 will add the URF Overtime Mode to prevent draws between players.
- 30 seconds into every battle the URF Overtime bonus will activate.
- Duration 15 seconds
- 300% Attack Speed
- 200% Ability Damage
- 66% reduced Crowd Control duration
- 66% Healing Reduction

T1 exposes Karmine Corp with 3-0 win at League of Legends MSI 2026
Wasif Ahmed
T1 just beat Karmine Corp 3-0 in the play-in stage of the 2026 Mid-Season Invitational. More importantly, T1 turned KC’s strengths into weaknesses. The bot lane and teamfight prowess that shone in the LEC were no match this time. The match started with Karmine Corp picking a disrespectful draft, blind picking three immobile squishies. Right off the bat, a botched invade put their jungle and bot lane at a disadvantage. ...

KeSPA Cup returns in July 2026 exclusively on Disney+
Hannan Mundia
The KeSPA Cup is slated to return sooner than most expected, though its date and exclusive Disney+ partnership raises some questions. The KeSPA Cup is an annual tournament organized directly by the Korea e-Sports Association. While it doesn’t get nearly as much attention as Riot-organized leagues and events, LCK powerhouses still participate in it. 2025’s KeSPA Cup is still fairly fresh since it took place in December. This year’s tournament ...

Both participating teams absolutely destroyed their respective opponents in this stage’s first round. With two 3-0 scores, both Karmine Corp and T1 have established themselves as powerhouses. However, the level of opposition was clearly different, and that fact may show its face in this match. Tournament: ...

The League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) 2026 will kick off with T1 facing off against Team Liquid, but will the match really be as one-sided as the betting odds make it out to be? While some didn’t think that the reigning world champions, T1 would make it to this year’s MSI, the team proved many wrong once again. It barely made it to the play-in stage, where Team Liquid ...
