Liquid has fought hard in the 2020 LCS Summer Split, resulting in a first-place finish prior to the playoffs. The team has made a strong turn since their poor spring split performance where they placed ninth and missed the playoffs entirely.

Between the two splits, Liquid added Joshua “Jatt” Leesman as its new head coach. Jatt is formerly known for his work on the LCS broadcast as a caster, and before that as a professional jungler for Dignitas in 2011.

Jatt came into the head coach role as a big question mark, but he has proven himself more than worthy of the position. As a former professional player and caster, Jatt has a wide knowledge of the scene and various in-game strategies. Together with Jang “Cain” Nu-ri, Kang “Dodo” Jun-hyeok, and Chris “Croissant” Sun, Jatt has led the way in showing that the coaching staff’s combined expertise can lift a team to greater heights.

The poor performance in the spring came as a shock to most of the LoL community, and losing bot laner Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng seemed like the final nail in the proverbial coffin for Liquid. The coaching staff and all of the team’s players have proven the community wrong by beating every team in the LCS at least once during the summer split.

Top 10 LCS MVP award contenders have been announced

Aside from the best coaching staff award, the top 10 MVP contenders have also been announced. The award winner won’t be revealed before September 4, but we now know which players are battling to become the most valuable player in the LCS summer split.

The favorites for the award have been Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg and Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in for a while and should still be considered the front-runners. With that said, several other players could run away with the award considering their value on their respective teams.

Can “Closer” Çelik and Robert “Blaber” Huang especially have been key players for their teams, maintaining a consistent performance in the jungle. These players could be dark horses for the MVP award, but it will all come down to the fans who can vote for their MVP on Twitter
