Team Liquid started its week three off right.

Despite entering the week on shaky footing, Liquid was able to make the most out of a soft matchup against FlyQuest. This allowed the Spring playoffs champions to keep their place in the intensely competitive LCS standings.

FlyQuest opened the game by having Lucas “Santorin” Larsen and Eugene “Pobelter” Park focus in on Liquid mid laner Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen. Multiple roams netted a pair of kills and a small early advantage, but that didn’t last long.

FlyQuest continued their aggressive play in the bottom lane. Jason “WildTurtle” Tran and Juan “JayJ” Guibert looked to take out Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng but Liquid punished that overextension for two kills. That completely swung the momentum of the bottom lane in Liquid’s favor, forcing FlyQuest to retreat and sacrifice the first turret.

FlyQuest was falling behind and started making bold moves to try and swing things back in their favor. At 20 minutes FlyQuest scored a pair of kills and rushed the first baron, but Liquid hit back with three kills of their own. A bit later Liquid followed up by initiating a fight with FlyQuest in the river which scored them four more scalps, FlyQuest’s inhibitors, and the baron.

The end came shortly thereafter with Liquid wiping the FlyQuest players off the map and destroying the nexus.

Ever since winning the Spring playoffs and taking second place at the 2019 Mid-Season Invitational, Liquid has been on a rollercoaster. Struggling with burnout from their hectic schedule, the team hasn’t been playing at peak performance which has seen them slide into the middle of the LCS pack. This win doesn’t necessarily mark a turning point for the squad, but it does let them stay in the thick of things.

The rest of the schedule continued with OpTic Gaming suffering its first loss of the season against Cloud9. Counter Logic Gaming got the better of Echo Fox in an exciting match. Team SoloMid obliterated Clutch Gaming and finally, 100 Thieves stayed winless after eating a loss to the Golden Guardians.

On Sunday, Team Liquid takes on OpTic while FlyQuest faces Clutch Gaming.
