Team Liquid pulled off a wild comeback against OpTic Gaming.

OpTic had Team Liquid against the ropes but it wasn’t enough to take down the defending champion.

In the pick and bans, OpTic went back to comfort with Poppy for top laner Niship “Dhokla” Doshi. The team drafted a composition with multiple engaging tools, which OpTic used to get a double kill in the bottom lane to set the game into motion.

The plan was clear, neutralize Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng and destabilize the Team Liquid squad. OpTic played through the bot lane and kept Doublelift in the death chamber.

In true Team Liquid fashion, the squad managed to find a small window and blow the game wide open. One misstep from OpTic turned into two kills, turret plates and a dragon for Team Liquid.

OpTic changed the plan and took over the mid lane. Mid laner Lee “Crown” Min-ho on Corki was in his element. He turned every fight in his favor and was confident enough to hunt down the Team Liquid members inside their own jungle.

OpTic’s demise would come by the hand of Jung “Impact” Eon-yeong. The top laner is arguably the best-performing Team Liquid player this season and he used those skills to help Liquid rally.

At 25 minutes, OpTic aced Liquid and got the baron buff. The team pushed down the mid lane while Impact did the same in the top lane. He managed to expose the inhibitor, forcing Dhokla to recall and answer his push.

OpTic seemed incensed with Impact for taking the inhibitor turret, so they focused on attempting to kill him. This plan backfired quickly and Team Liquid capitalized on OpTic’s over-aggression.

The second time they tried and failed to burst down Impact, Team Liquid retaliated and took out the OpTic players one by one. From there, Liquid got the baron and pushed for the win.

OpTic is falling down in the standings at an inopportune time. Now in fifth at 8-7 the team must stay on top of their game if they want to make it to playoffs. They play against the Golden Guardians in an important match on Sunday.
