Overwatch 2 developers have shared a new hero, known as Space Ranger, at BlizzCon 2023.
There were a lot shocking Overwatch 2 announcements at BlizzCon 2023 this weekend, including the confirmation of Muaga and a new game mode. Now, developers have opened up about a new hero coming in 2024.
Space Ranger is the codename for a support hero from the Mars colony. Tan said they didn’t want to “dive into her kit” but her concept art was shared at BlizzCon 2023, showing a very dynamic hero in space suit-inspired armor and purple hair.
According to Tan, Space Ranger will be “highly mobile” and is focused on verticality. She will come with “no lack of thrusters” on both her suit and boots. Not a lot more was shared because a lot of things may change.
Developers explained that the gun you see in the artwork above has already changed. More about her design and kit will change as production continues.
When it comes to Space Ranger’s lore, all we know so far is that she loves battling enemies from air and space and that she resides in a Mars colony.
According to the Overwatch 2 team, there are three new heroes coming in 2024, including a tank, damage, and support. Space Ranger, the support, will be part of Season 12.
“In Season 12, the next support hero will be released. Apparently known by the development team by the codename Space Ranger, she’ll be our first hero from the Mars colony,” lead character concept artist Daryl Tan said.
