Romain Grosjean’s R8G Esports to manage Ulralkali Haas F1 Esports
Romain Grosjean’s R8G Esports to manage Ulralkali Haas F1 Esports
Former Formula 1 driver Romain Grosjean is back with Haas, but this time it’s through esports.
Romain Grosjean is taking another big step into the F1 esports scene as his own team R8G Esports will take over management of Uralkali Haas F1 Team in all its activities including its entry into the 2021 F1 Esports Series. The partnership happens nearly a year after Grosjean first established R8G Esports. Since April 2020, R8G Esports has proven itself as a team to be feared with a lot of talented sim racers under its wings.
Through 2020, R8G Esports with Grosjean in charge snatched a total of 45 victories and now has 17 pro sim racers on contract. The team also has five junior drivers who are all looking to be the next F1 esports stars.
According to Grosjean himself, he is happy about managing the Uralkali Haas F1 Team in the upcoming F1 Esports Series. Grosjean is also very confident in the team he has built and glad that he can help Haas, which he himself has been a part of for around four years in the real Formula 1 world prior to this deal.
“I’ve been involved in esports for a year now and I believe our team is doing very well,” Grosjean said. “For me, being able to help Haas F1 in this field, and going racing together – well, it’s a great story.”
Grosjean has raced a total of 98 Grand Prix under Haas, starting from the team’s start back in 2016. Grosjean ended his time with Haas in Bahrain 2020 after a severe crash. His years with Haas have certainly created a strong bond, which will now live on through esports.
Romain Grosjean and R8G Esports looking to boost Haas performance
New faces ready to take over the Haas esports team, and it’s with an ambition of increasing its overall level. Haas has finished at the bottom of the standings of the F1 Esports Pro Series over the past two seasons, but with R8G Esports taking over, the goal is to continue an upward trajectory through the 2021 season.
Through 2020, Haas increased its points compared to the season before but still had a long way to go to reach the top. Only time will tell if Haas can reach the top under the new management of R8G Esports, but it will be a big process and not just happen overnight.
Who won F1 Esports Series 2020?
Last year’s F1 Esports Series was won by Jarno Opmeer from the Netherlands. The 20-year-old racer won the trophy under Red Bull Racing Esports, which is the second year in a row that the team takes home the trophy. Unlike the previous three championships, the 2020 F1 Esports Series was played online.
