Riot Games is almost ready with the next League of Legends champion, which will be Gwen, the Hallowed Seamstress.

Through a champion teaser earlier today, Riot gave the first look at Gwen, who will enter the game as the next champion. The teaser revealed some backstory of Gwen, a doll who was supposedly made by Viego’s wife Isolde. The trailer showed how the doll got possessed by a soul, turning into what is now known to be Gwen. While most fans expected Isolde to be the next champion in line, it seems that Riot is taking a bit of a detour in the lore before releasing her.

A first look at the newest LoL champion Gwen

Shortly after the champion teaser, Riot released the first champion gameplay teaser, where fans got to see Gwen in action on Summoner’s Rift. The trailer showcases Gwen in full size and how she looks like a character straight out of a fairy tale. Gwen’s weapon is a big scissor, which she used to cut down her enemies.

From the looks of the gameplay, it seems that Gwen will be a melee champion with plenty of damage and some mobility. The first ability shows Gwen shooting out what looks like a needle which will likely pierce through enemies hit. The gameplay continues with Gwen creating a blue aura around her while kiting back and shooting out needles. What this aura exactly does is still unknown but it looks like Gwen gets a burst of movement speed while inside it and can use it to protect herself when diving onto the enemy backline.

What role is Gwen in LoL?

From previous leaks, it has been confirmed that Gwen will be an ability power fighter who looks to be suitable for the top lane. It’s expected that Gwen will be strong in skirmishes and might be another new champion that takes a lot of skill to master.

When will Gwen be released in LoL?

After Gwen’s reveal today, it’s expected that she will be out very soon. Before getting released to the live server, Gwen will head by the Public Beta Environment (PBE) for testing. With patch 11.7 coming out next week, it’s likely that Gwen will be released through patch 11.8 on April 14.
