Release date for The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Me

Fans of The Dark Pictures Anthology can finally get hype now that the release date of The Devil In Me is just around the corner.

The Dark Pictures Anthology has opened up new design space in video games, and the release date for The Devil In Me is barely more than a week away. The multilinear story will also raise the series to new heights with greater control over characters than in previous titles.

The release date for The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Me is November 18, 2022.

That date was announced by developer Supermassive Games at the Future Games Show in August 2022. The date was originally leaked by IGN before being confirmed in later promotional materials. Recent trailers including the Halloween Serial Killer spot have further confirmed November 18.

Once it releases, fans will be able to personally meet the diverse cast of main characters as they investigate a mysterious mansion. The building in question is a replica of real-life serial killer H. H. Holmes’s “Murder Castle,” where he confessed to killing 27 people at trial. While the story of Holmes is often accused of being exaggerated, the dangers confronting the documentary crew will be very real to them.

What kind of game is The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Me?

Developer Supermassive Games describes The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Me as an interactive drama and survival horror game.

While the player does determine several events in the story, they do not have complete control over a single character like in traditional survival horror games such as Resident Evil or Silent Hill. Players choose between predetermined outcomes for scenes which can affect character and plot development. Many have compared the Dark Pictures series to movies, though the games still rely on the player to push the story forward. The Devil In Me will introduce more interaction to the series than ever before with the addition of tool-based puzzles, inventory management, and vertical movement.

Devil in Me characters

The Devil In Me is the fourth Dark Pictures game to be released by Supermassive after Man of Medan, Little Hope, and House of Ashes. While not a traditional horror experience, all of the games in the series are intended to be scary, suspenseful, and startling. Supermassive has also hinted that a second “season” of Dark Pictures games could be in the works.

Fans of the franchise can expect to learn more after The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Me release date of November 18.
