PUBG Mobile update introduces PP-19, improves tier system

The PUBG Mobile 0.13.5 beta version has been released.

Tencent announced the update on the official Discord server and it’s now live for both Android and iOS. The newest version of PUBG Mobile brings a new gun to the game and some much-needed changes to the tier system.

PUBG Mobile’s newest weapon addition is the PP-19. This is the battle royale’s fifth SMG. But what has players talking is the gun’s significantly large magazine size of 53 rounds. Because of this impressive base stat, magazine upgrades aren’t available for the PP-19, although all other submachine gun attachments are still supported.

“The PP-19 has single shot damage value of 35 and a rate of fire similar to the UMP. Its default magazine size gives it a robust suppressive fire ability, and with fewer attachments to add. it has the advantage of a fully kitted weapon during early game. These advantages come at the cost of a slightly weaker performance later in the match,” read the announcement.

The PP-19 can be found in Erangel and Vikendi.

PUBG Mobile Tier System Update

When it comes to updates, weapons can often steal the spotlight. But the mobile game’s newest version has some other changes that shouldn’t be ignored.

According to the developer update, the ranking system’s algorithm has been tuned “to slightly increase the weight of kill points,” making eliminations more impactful on players’ tiers.

The tier transfer rules have also been revised. Starting from Season 8, tiers below Gold are transferred as is to the next season. Players with ranks below Gold will directly progress to the next season without losing any of their ranking points.

But it wasn’t only the mechanics that were changed. The season interface was also redesigned to make it more “intuitive and fancier.”

The tier inheritance message has been made more clear, reads the developer update. The rating reset information for all servers will be shown in one message and tier transfer rules will be explained on the website. Tier promotion messaging has been improved, and division promotions within a tier will not be shown in the lobby. Tier icon visuals have also been improved with a “fancier display.”

The PUBG Mobile update comes after all version of PUBG were banned from Jordan. The small country is just the latest to declare PUBG too violent for their citizens. Jordan’s Telecommunication Regulatory Commission has dubbed the battle royale to have a “negative impact” on anyone who plays it.
