The latest update to Overwatch has begun the latest Anniversary event for 2019, celebrating the third birthday of Overwatch.

Event Brawls from all previous seasonal events are available to play during the Anniversary event, and all seasonal skins have temporarily been unlocked for purchase.

This year, a total of 11 new skins have been introduced for the event. This is up from the standard of nine that has been seen thus far in 2019. Six of the new skins are legendary, while five are classified as epic.

The highlight for many this year are the highly detailed Gargoyle Winston and Honeydew Mei skins.

Gargoyle Winston shows the hero as a traditional stone gargoyle statue brought to life. Honeydew Mei sees Mei dressed in a diner waitress costume, complete with a customized diner logo on her apron.

The other legendary skins include Riot Police Brigitte, Academy D.Va, Orbital Pharah, and Toxic Roadhog. Pharah and D.Va both have new epic skins in addition to their gold level cosmetics, with the remaining three skins going to Doomfist, Sombra, and Widowmaker, respectively.

As with previous Anniversary events, heroes that have been added over the last year have been given new dance emotes. The dance emotes are a staple of the event, and this year is no different. Hammond can now dance on top of his mech, and Ashe can perform a line dance. Baptiste’s dance, called “Kompa,” is named after a type of dance music that originated in Haiti. Interestingly, it was popularised by a man named Nemours Jean-Baptiste.

A selection of new victory poses, voice lines, and player icons are now available to collect as well.

When signing in for the first time, players will get a chance to earn a free themed loot box that will guarantee at least one Anniversary item. As the event runs until June 10, players have until then to collect their free loot box.
