Valorant adds Prime 2.0 skin bundle in Episode 2, Act 2

Riot Games has rolled out dozens of skins alongside new acts and agent updates, but few have been more eye-catching. The skins were added with the game’s official launch and have managed to stay on every player’s wish list. The gold and purple skins have a regal look, something that other premium skins followed. Though there are plenty of flashier skins, few look as good as the original Valorant skins.

Prime is back with the 2.0 bundle, and it’s a treat for the eyes. The retouched skins are entirely different from the classic version, yet look the part when placed alongside Prime Vandal. The previous dark purple hues have been toned down into more of a pastel. There’s also a less metallic sheen in favor of a glassy shine. In Senior Weapons Artist Chris Stone’s words, the 2.0 collection should feel like “an evolution, from a luxury sportscar to a hypercar.”

“We want players who own the Prime Vandal to feel like the Prime//2.0 Phantom offers something new but still feels cohesive with their collection as they play,” Stone said.

The developers have taken inspiration from hypercar designs, adding exhaust ports and FX interaction on the side of the guns. The glassy sheen adds a modern and futuristic touch to the skins. The exposed inner mechanics, bullets, and designs also add an aggressive touch to remind players that these are still deadly weapons.

While the guns are nice, the knife in Prime 2.0 shines the most. The developer added a karambit-style knife for the new skin collection, with unique equip animations and style. The melee knife has a gold blade with a purple finish to it, adding a razor-sharp feel.

The new skins will be available to buy on March 3rd, 2021.
