Overwatch 2’s new hero, Sojourn, will be available for testing ahead of the game’s official release.

The first new Overwatch 2 character has finally been unveiled. Sojourn, who was technically first revealed in the Overwatch 2 gameplay teaser in 2019, will be available in the public beta test soon. She appears to be a versatile DPS character who can swap between a projectile-based machine gun and hitscan laser.

Sojourn, whose real name is Vivian Chase, is a former Overwatch commander who left the organization for unknown reasons. In the new trailer, Sojourn is shown in futuristic battle gear wielding a railgun.

Sojourn is a former Canadian special forces member who fought in the Omnic Crisis alongside Soldier: 76. She both personally directed and planned Overwatch missions during the war, but retired soon afterward for unspecified reasons. She appears in full motorcycle gear in her trailer clip, which will likely be an alternate skin.

New Overwatch 2 hero Sojourn abilities and ultimate

Sojourn’s abilities haven’t been officially revealed, but players can get an idea of what the new Overwatch 2 hero is capable of based on gameplay clips.

Sojourn’s regular attack is a machine gun with fast-moving projectile bullets. Its alternate fire is a powerful railgun shot that appears to pierce barriers and deals a massive amount of damage, especially with critical shots. Trailers haven’t shown her movement ability, but it’s probably a jetpack-powered baseball slide based on concept art. Her other ability was not shown in gameplay or even hinted at in the trailer.

Sojourn’s ultimate ability automatically charges up her railgun alternate fire. Usually, it takes several seconds to charge up, but it takes only a second or so during the ultimate. It could also affect her mysterious second ability. The new Overwatch 2 hero could still be changed before official release, especially since the impending one-tank composition will cease the dreaded double-barrier meta.

When will Sojourn be added to Overwatch?

An official Sojourn gameplay trailer is coming on April 14, and the character will likely arrive in the days shortly thereafter.

No official date was revealed but those in the Overwatch 2 beta likely don’t have to wait particularly long for her. Sojourn will potentially land in the game in the very near future. Whenever she comes out, it will mark the first release of actual new Overwatch gameplay content in years.
