Esports organisation Misfits has announced a joint gaming event for fans to play with professional Fortnite and Overwatch Players.

The free event will take place at the college-run esports convention Couch Co-op.

Attendees of the convention will be able to meet with players signed by the Misfits organization as part of a “Play with the Pros” event. Fans will simply be able to walk up to the relevant booth and choose whether to play on provided consoles or PCs for their matches, and will then get a chance to play with the professionals.

As part of the joint event, both Drew “Surfnboy” Snediker and newly signed Matthew “zensored” Stanislawski from the team’s Fortnite division will be in attendance.

Those looking to play against Overwatch professionals can expect to compete against members of Overwatch Contenders team Mayhem Academy. The entire academy team will be in attendance, which includes former Overwatch League players Russel “FCTFCTN” Campbell and Tim “Manneten” Bylund.

While some fans may have hoped to play against players from OWL team Florida Mayhem, they are unable to attend due to the OWL schedule. Instead, attendees to Couch Co-op will be able watch the Florida Mayhem play live on the event’s main stage for their match against the Shanghai Dragons.

Couch Co-op is a yearly event organised by the Florida Gulf University esports club, and is sponsored by collegiate esports company Tespa. This year’s event will take place on April 20 at the Cohen Center in Fort Myers.

The Misfits are heavily involved with collegiate esports and are in the midst of a tour hosting talks, gaming events, and esports watch parties across college campuses. The tour, sponsored by lifestyle and ticketing organisation Attendee, plans to visit ever college in Florida at least once.

With many collegiate events and clubs currently run by students, the Misfits collegiate tour is part of an outreach program for both colleges and the students themselves. According to Florida Mayhem event manager Alonso “LonzPonz” Benavente, the goal of the Misfits its to try and help “develop the esports industry” by encouraging colleges to “invest and develop” an esports culture.
