Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wave 5 adds eight new tracks

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is adding new content to the game on July 12, 2023, Nintendo has confirmed. The Booster Course Pass wave 5 will include new tracks and characters.

Booster Course Pass is the expansion pack for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which includes over 50 additional courses to the game. The additional courses are remastered versions of other games, including Mario Kart Tour, the mobile version of the game. The pass was first announced in 2022 and is currently on its fifth drop.

All new content will be available for players who purchased the Booster Course Pass.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wave 5 Courses

Wave 5 will include eight different courses divided into two cups.

Feather Cup

  • Athens Dash: Originally from Mario Kart Tour, this track is set in Athens, Greece. The course features different landmarks from the city and is partially run on the Acropolis.
  •  Daisy Cruiser: This track takes place on a Daisy-themed cruise ship. The course appeared for the first time in Mario Kart: Double Dash and then was added to Mario Kart 7. In 2022, it made its Mario Kart Tour debut. This would be the fourth time this course is used in the game.
  • Moonview Highway: It takes the players on a tour around a lit-up city under a full moon. It takes elements from other traffic-based courses in the game. It was created for Mario Kart Wii and then added to Mario Kart Tour.
  • Squeaky Clean Sprint: The only original course created for this update. It takes place in a giant bathroom and takes players through the counters, bathtubs, and other elements of the bathroom. According to data pulled from the game, it will be a Mario Kart Tour course.

Cherry Cup

  • Los Angeles Laps: A course from Mario Kart Tour based on Los Angeles, California. It includes landmarks from Los Angeles County, like the Santa Monica Pier and Venice Beach. There are three versions of this course that feature different landmarks.
  • Sunset Wilds: It is a desert-themed course with a sun setting in the background. The sun keeps going until the final lap when it is dark. The course was first part of Mario Kart: Super Circuit and then added to Mario Kart Tour.
  • Koopa Cape: This course takes place on an island owned by Koopa Troopa. Players go through rivers, forests, and even venture underwater. It was created for Mario Kart Wii, then reused for Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart Tour.
  • Vancouver Velocity: This course is based in Vancouver, Canada, and was part of the Vancouver Tour in Mario Kart Tour. There are three versions of the course, with the first one being added to Wave 5.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wave 5 Characters

Wave 5 will add three new characters for players to choose from. All of these characters have been featured in previous games.

  • Petey Piranha: From Mario Kart: Double Dash and Mario Kart Tour, a heavyweight driver.
  • Wiggler: From Mario Kart 7, another heavyweight driver.
  • Kamek: From Mario Kart Tour, the only medium-weight driver in the update.
