LEC hits 1 million peak viewership for G2 vs. Fnatic finals match
The LEC hit another milestone by reaching over 1 million peak viewers during the 2020 LEC Summer Finals match between G2 Esports and Fnatic. This broke the record for most-watched LEC match.
It was only a matter of time before the LEC would hit the 1 million viewer milestone. An earlier playoff match between G2 and Fnatic saw
viewership peak at almost 900,000 unique viewers. The finals showdown between them reached over 1 million during game two of the series.
To warm up for the LEC finals, a whole day of entertainment was streamed including live performances from Steve Aoki and Ofenbach. The pre-game show kept viewers hyped throughout the day, which ended up showing as soon as the teams entered Summoner’s Rift.
The final itself saw
G2 dominate en route to a 3-0 sweep, but the lopsided nature of the match didn’t keep viewers from tuning in. Previous viewership records have been set during intense game-five deciders, but that was not needed this time around. The viewership could have reached even higher if G2 hadn’t ended things in such quick fashion
A milestone like this leaves the LEC in a great place, as the fandom turns its attention to the 2020 League of Legends World Championship. If European teams keep performing at a high level and continue entertaining fans, odds are that viewership will climb even higher next year.
G2 Esports, Fnatic are LEC’s most popular teams
It’s clear that G2 and Fnatic are by far the two most popular teams in European League of Legends, despite other organizations performing well throughout the split. The two organizations have been in the scene for many years, building up a stable fanbase through domestic and international success in and out of LoL.
All the top five most popular matches throughout the 2020 LEC Summer Split had one or both of the teams competing.
- Grand finals: G2 Esports vs. Fnatic (1,002,178 peak viewers)
- Semifinals day one: G2 Esports vs. Fnatic (900,377 peak viewers)
- Semifinals day two: G2 Esports vs. Rogue (741,512 peak viewers)
- Playoffs round one: Fnatic vs. Rogue (557,147 peak viewers)
- Playoffs round one: G2 Esports vs. MAD Lions (519,833 peak viewers)

Wasif Ahmed
T1 just beat Karmine Corp 3-0 in the play-in stage of the 2026 Mid-Season Invitational. More importantly, T1 turned KC’s strengths into weaknesses. The bot lane and teamfight prowess that shone in the LEC were no match this time. The match started with Karmine Corp picking a disrespectful draft, blind picking three immobile squishies. Right off the bat, a botched invade put their jungle and bot lane at a disadvantage. ...
