KT Rolster vs. DRX: 2021 LCK Spring Split betting analysis

Reading time: 3 min

Week 7 of the 2021 LCK Spring Split will kick off with a match between KT Rolster and DRX, both of whom fighting for playoff contention.

DRX and KT are currently in contention for playoffs, with DRX currently fighting to stay in the top 3. KT is taking up sixth place in the league and will have to perform in the final weeks of the split to stay ahead of Afreeca Freecs and NS RedForce, who are right behind them in the standings.

So far this season, things have been very up and down for KT. With a very young squad, for the most part, it’s only natural that it takes time for the players to synergize and play comfortably under pressure. So far, it’s going in the right direction for KT, but the current 5-6 standing also tells a story about the team’s inconsistency.

KT has already managed to beat great teams this split, including its first best-of-three clash against DRX. To win another series like that, KT will have to shake off unnecessary mistakes on Summoner’s Rift as DRX is playing better than when the two teams met in week 3. If the young squad succeeds in that, this could end up as a very competitive match.

For DRX, the hunger for vengeance will be great. Not only because they lost 0-2 against KT the last time, but also because they are currently in contention for a top-three spot. The new DRX squad is sitting at a 7-4 record alongside Hanwha Life, a team that they’ve lost to twice already. To stay in contention, DRX will have to take down the upcoming opponents while hoping for Hanwha Life to make mistakes.

A good start would be beating KT, which seems like a match that the young DRX squad should win. Just like KT, this roster is new and has needed time to build up synergy. So far, the process has been relatively quick and the players are starting to play as a unit. With the only DRX member from 2020, jungler Hong “Pyosik” Chang-hyeon, leading the squad, the team is looking like a strong dark horse this split.

DRX is expected to come out ahead against KT Rolster

Based on recent performance and the team’s placing in the standings, it’s no surprise that DRX has the edge in this one. With that said, it’s not significant and leaves great chances for KT to pull an upset. As DRX is in contention for one of the top three spots, a lot of pressure is also starting to build on the young squad and KT might be able to take advantage of that. KT has previously proven that they are most comfortable as the underdogs.

A win for DRX will still give a solid odds of 1.65 while a KT Rolster win gives an odds of 2.08

The match between KT Rolster and DRX will take place on March 4.
