Kobbe officially released from TSM, joins Misfits in the LEC
Danish bottom laner Kasper “Kobbe” Kobberup has joined Misfits after being released from Team SoloMid.
Kobbe is returning to Europe to play under Misfits’ banner in the upcoming 2020 LEC Summer Split. The announcement comes after weeks of speculations regarding the future of Kobbe’s career. Kobbe joined TSM ahead of the 2020 LCS Spring Split where he found mild success. His tenure with TSM was cut short when TSM announced that Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng would be rejoining the organization.
Despite playing only one split in North America, Kobbe left a good impression as a consistent player and a good teammate.
“We reached out to every interested party in NA and EU and allowed Kasper to choose whichever option he felt was best. In doing so, we completely disregarded any financial considerations or conventional transfer buyouts that may have been better for the organization in order to allow what was best for Kasper,” TSM wrote in a final announcement about Kobbe’s release.
Really excited to bring
@kobbe
to our squad.
He’ll bring a much desired additional veteran presence to our group as we continue to build momentum towards worlds.
We made great strides so far, but our desire to improve never stops.
WELCOME back home
@kobbe!

Kobbe will be replacing Ju “Bvoy” Yeong-hoon who was released from Misfits immediately. Bvoy had a solid season in the LEC and was fundamental to the team’s success. But Kobbe is still an upgrade for the team that is looking to make it to the World Championship this year.
What’snext for TSM in the LCS with Doublelift?
Kobbe is out, Doublelift is in, but this might not be the final roster change for TSM. Several rumors indicate that TSM might be in the market for a new jungler. There were reports about TSM offering to buy out Mads “Broxah” Brock-Pedersen’s contract, a move that rival Team Liquid refused. Other rumors indicate that TSM might be looking at Golden Guardians’ Turkish import Can “Closer” Çelik.
On his debut season in the LCS, Closer had an outstanding performance. Closer has a close friendship with TSM’s top laner and fellow TCL veteran Sergen “Broken Blade” Çelik. Considering the team is prioritizing existing synergies over anything else, Closer might the right fit for TSM. That’s if Golden Guardians is willing to let go of its best performing player from the spring.
