Royal Never Give Up bot laner Chen “GALA” Wei has been a treat to watch at the 2021 Mid-Season Invitational so far and is rocking some of the best stats among all competing players.

After joining RNG in June 2020, GALA has been on an upward trajectory individually. After just two splits with the organization, many would now consider GALA as one of the best bot laners in the LPL, and maybe also the world after this MSI is over. The Chinese bot laner has put all critics to rest with his consistency, which shows in the statistics where GALA currently has the most kills of any player at the event.

100 kills over the course of 18 games is definitely something to be proud of, especially when there are a full 16 kills down to PSG Talon bot laner Chiu “Doggo” Tzu-Chuan at second-most at the event.

The fact that GALA is topping the kill charts isn’t necessarily a surprise. Mainly because he is a bot laner, which has proven to be the role that gets the most kills by far. GALA and the rest of RNG were fortunate enough to play two extra games in the group stage as well. This was due to GAM Esports not making the tournament due to travel restrictions. That gave all RNG players a couple of extra games to pad the stats. But even in the games against the best teams at the tournament, GALA has been killing it, literally.

GALA has the best CS differential at MSI 2021

If a lot of kills weren’t enough to prove GALA’s skill, he is also represented at the top of most other statistics. Most notably is his CS differential after 10 minutes where GALA is rocking a differential of 14.9 CS. This is the highest of any player at the tournament, with teammate Li “Xiaohu” Yuan-Hao coming in at second.

In other important bot-lane statistics such as damage per minute, KDA, and CS per minute, GALA is placed among the best. All this while playing his first-ever international event at an age of just 20 years old. This leaves the question if GALA might be the best player at the event. Looking at the statistics and his impact on the map, it’s easy to argue that he is.

GALA’s next match will be against PSG Talon in the semifinals, where he will be up against Doggo who has also been impressive throughout the event. Both bot laners have gotten a lot of kills in most games, making the bot-lane matchup an exciting one to follow. There might be a lot of fighting between the two in the upcoming best-of-five series.

The semifinal between RNG and PSG Talon kicks off on Friday, May 21.
