Invictus Gaming qualified for the 2018 World Championship final after defeating G2 Esports in three games.

IG showed its dominance in a series that seemed finished almost as quickly as it began. Song “Rookie” Eui-jin started the action in game one with first blood at only eight minutes. The mid lane was action-packed, but the true star of the match was Yu “JackeyLove” Wen-Bo.

The young bottom laner had a dominant performance with quick rotations and a strong presence both in lane and across the map. IG was able to take objectives and apply pressure to G2 seemingly at will. The European team tried to strike back, but IG was quick to disengage when necessary. IG aced G2 at 28 minutes to take game one.

In game two, IG managed to neutralize Luka “Perkz” Perković and Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski. Rookie combined with teammate Gao “Ning” Zhen-Ning to harass Perkz and prevent him from scaling on time. In the top lane, Martin “Wunder” Hansen was completely unable to contain Kang “TheShy” Seung-lok’s playmaking Jayce.

Jankos found one pick in the mid game but it wasn’t enough to get G2 back in the fight. The European squad tried one more time to go for it all, but by that time IG could no longer be stopped. At 26 minutes, IG secured a baron and managed a final push to earn a second victory.

G2 got off to a better start in game three. The team collapsed in the top lane and picked up two quick kills. This early aggression allowed G2 to secure a pair of neutral objectives. But IG waited patiently for the moment to strike back, and their moment came.

TheShy grew strong enough to not only occupy the front line but to also dealt the damage necessary to turn the game around. IG secured a baron and at 26 minutes broke the enemy base. Four kills later, the Chinese side took the series and moved onto the finals.

IG will be facing Fnatic at the Incheon Munhak Stadium in Incheon, South Korea, with the winner being declared the 2018 World Champion in League of Legends.
